Rob Bonfiglio Returns To The Time Machine

One of most played albums on the air from 2008 is "Bring On The Happy" from Rob Bonfiglio. Rob is no stranger to our playlists. Since the turn of the century, Rob's music has filled the Maui airwaves as a solo artist, a member of The Better Days, The Skies Of America and Superstone (the brainchild of rocker Ken Sharp). Rob's musical career goes further back into the 90's as a member of the RCA label band Wanderlust and his recent musical output has been featured in the soundtracks of motion pictures.

The Time Machine crew were quite happy to have Rob return as a guest to the program. Rob discussed his album "Bring On The Happy" and shared some insight on some of his songs.

Other artists heard on this Maui afternoon FM radio broadcast include; Nushu, Rachael Yamagata, Kelly Jones, Ken Sharp, Jim Boggia and The Honeys.

    Pizza and Maui Radio Aircheck

Radio show hosts Summer Blue and Michael McCartney work up an appetite while spinning music on the FM dial. While management keeps the air conditioner cranked up to Arctic like temperatures to keep the broadcast equipment from overheating, the disc jockeys keep their long sleeves on to keep from freezing. Beach goers hit the Maui shorelines unaware that the DJs on the Hawaiian airwaves are wearing the complete opposite of swimsuits and slippers. Immediately following the program, Summer and Michael run from the air studio to the nearest pizza place to warm up after being locked up for hours on the air. From the photograph above, you can see that they are still thawing out at the pizzeria eatery.

An interview with Pennan Brae can be heard on this program along with the band's new song "Anyways". The Time Machine continues to feature new music from Mandy Moore's upcoming album, "Amanda Leigh", to be released on May 26th. "Bug" resulted from the singer-songwriter having a hankering to close her album with something acoustic and simple. Mandy had the desire to actualize a song in the vein of Harry Nilsson or Randy Newman and "Pocket Philosopher" is a bit light hearted and goofy but also resonates with the excitement of meeting someone new and wanting to stop time so you could figure them out a little more. The album produced by frequent musical guest on The Time Machine, Mike Viola, can be pre-ordered on iTunes.

New songs also featured on this afternoon FM broadcast can be heard from Mink, Paul Carrack (with Timothy B. Schmit and Don Henley), The Handuffs, The Smith Bros. and Jordan Zevon.

Producer Jenny Leong, Pop Garden Radio's Adam Waltemire and Suitcase Full Of Dimes' Ed Lynn added to the on air musical fun with songs from The Hudson Brothers, Jill Sobule, Rick Derringer, Lisa Mychols, The Oohs, Jude Cole, Sweet, Badfinger, The Rolling Stones, Electric Light Orchestra, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie.

    Allergic To Fun In Paradise

We couldn't decide to title this podcast "Allergic To Fun" or "Bad Reputation". Radio hosts of The Time Machine, Summer Blue and Michael McCartney, were in both a Joan Jett mood and a Eytan Mirsky mood on this Maui afternoon FM aircheck. In the end, we went with lifting Eytan Mirsky's song title and why not? Eytan likes pizza just like the rest of The Time Machine crew (seen above after eating three pizzas from Dollies in Kahana) and there really isn't any allergy to fun in Hawaii. Isn't Sheryl Crow's first hit song about wanting to have fun?

Below Photo: Sheryl Crow returned to Maui last week and performed in front of a large crowd under the Hawaiian stars.

In addition to the music of Eytan Mirsky and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, new songs also featured on this Maui broadcast include: Kelly Jones, The Smith Bros., Butch Walker, The Explorers Club, She & Him, Marty Rudnick with Michael Carpenter, Mike Viola and James Carter Cathcart. Rounding out the radio show musically are artists: Maple Mars, George Harrison, Moon Martin, The Partridge Family, Sheryl Crow, The Bee Gees, Electric Light Orchestra, Leslie Gore, Ravyns, The Grass Roots, Hudson Brothers, Lou Christie, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Pilot, Josie & The Pussycats, Kenny Rogers and Richard O'Brien with Patricia Quinn and Little Nell.
