Minnie Driver Interview on The Time Machine

Singer-songwriter and Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Minnie Driver was a guest on The Time Machine. Since the release of her first album, her music has become a fixture on the radio playlists of The Time Machine for the last ten years. Minnie took some time off from the set of NBC's series "About A Boy", to shared with host Michael McCartney and the radio audience, her thoughts and inspiration behind the songs she chose to record for her brand new beautiful and haunting covers album "Ask Me To Dance". The album was a labor of love and songwriters featured on her third album include Robert Smith (The Cure’s “Close to Me”), Elliott Smith (“Waltz #2”), Stevie Wonder (“Master Blaster”), Paul Weller ("Wild Wood"), Neil Young (“Tell Me Why”), John Prine (“Speed of the Sound of Loneliness”) and Neil Finn ("Better Be Home Soon" from Crowded House) along with "Love Song" composed by Lesley Duncan (Elton John covered the song on his classic "Tumbleweed Connection"). Minnie's arrangement of "Love Song" has been in heavy rotation on The Time Machine's playlists since late summer. Minnie takes The Killers’ “Human” and turns it upside down as an almost country ballad and she turns Bart Howard's “Fly Me to the Moon”, a song that became a swinging standard for Frank Sinatra, into an incredibly intimate moment.

New music was featured from Bryan Adams covering "Anytime At All" by The Beatles, Anya Marina, John Hunter Phillips and Robin Gibb's song "Days of Wine and Roses". Other artists heard on this Maui morning show FM aircheck include Badfinger, The Smith Bros., Robert Gordon, Palmdale, Ben Lee & Mandy Moore, The Cowsills, George Harrison, Five For Fighting, Lindsey Buckingham, Fountains Of Wayne, Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods, Pugwash, Mike Viola and a mash-up of The Cure and The Bangles.
