Marshall Crenshaw Interview on The Time Machine

Rocker and singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw was a guest on The Time Machine. Marshall's music has been a key part of our radio programming since his first album release in 1982. Marshall Crenshaw is referred to behind the scenes at some of the radio stations here in Hawaii as a "core artist" alongside other musical artists ranging from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers to Sheryl Crow to Paul McCartney to Billy Joel. The well respected and influential songwriter is currently in the final stages of his Kickstarter campaign of raising pledged funds for a documentary film that he's producing about legendary record producer Tom Wilson. When it comes to rock and roll history, Tom is not mentioned enough, but music geeks and audiophiles know he's responsible for adding the electric guitar and drums to Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" and was in the producer's seat behind the early albums of Bob Dylan leading up to the moment he "went electric" with "Like A Rolling Stone". From his early days in the fifties to the Velvet Underground in the sixties, Bob Wilson has been an important force in the world of music. Marshall Crenshaw wants to share that story with the world. Marshall shares his thoughts as to why he wants to get this documentary film made and also discusses the inspiration behind some of his most popular songs in the last thirty-five years.

New music was also featured by Anya Marina, Tricia Countryman with John Hunter Phillips, Elton John and Bryan Adams. Other artists featured on this Maui afternoon FM aircheck include Robert Gordon, Ronnie Spector, Paul Carrack, Kristen Vigard, Linda Ronstadt, Tommy Knight, Robert Ellis Orral with Carlene Carter, Greg Kihn Band, The Smith Bros., Lisa Mychols, Randy Newman & Paul Simon, The Click Five, Fuzzbubble, Kalapana, KC & The Sunshine Band, Michael Jackson, Moxy Fruvous, The Coyote Sisters, Danny Hutton, David Paton and John Alagia.
