Makana Interview on The Time Machine
Singer-songwriter and slack key master Makana was our guest on The Time Machine. Makana is on Maui for a concert tonight at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. He performed live with Kathy Collins on KEAO and spoke with Michael McCartney on KPMW WILD 105.5 yesterday. Makana returned to The Time Machine this morning on KRKH 97.3 FM to discuss his music and shared two songs that will only be available on CD at his 7:30PM concert (Doors open at 5:30PM with Lily Meola & Toby Couture as the opening act). In addition to covering Led Zeppelin's "Going To California" in what he terms his "Slack Rock" style, he also gave The Time Machine crew the green light to spin his arrangement of the theme to "Hawaii Five-0".
This Maui morning FM radio aircheck also features brand new music from The Bangles, Imelda May, Rachael Yamagata and Brian Ray. Other artists featured on the broadcast include Jesse Malin, Eytan Mirsky, Fleetwood Mac and Cathy Dennis.
