Christmas Eve On The Time Machine 2016
It was another radio marathon for The Time Machine Crew this Christmas Eve featuring Jon Batiste from "Late Night With Stephen Colbert", singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb, actress/singer-songwriter Alicia Witt ("The Walking Dead", "Nashville", "Cybil" and David Lynch's "Dune") and actor/director Michael Damian with radio hosts Tanya Teal, Daphne Matsumoto, Michael McCartney, Summer Blue and Ashley Starr under the capable hands of producer Jenny Leong making sure that the holiday disc jockeys were never without Christmas music while behind their microphones. The amount of radio airtime given to Daphne, Summer, Tanya, Ashley and Michael for two days of commercial free non stop yuletide musical fun is unprecedented on Maui radio as The Time Machine keeps topping the previous years of Christmas broadcasts. All of the radio stations involved for putting up with The Time Machine Radio Christmas Crew will find some nifty treats in their stockings this year.
Speaking of treats, the Christmas broadcast tradition of being catered by former disc jockey Deron Furukawa and upside down kitty lover Kit Zulueta, as well as Rachel Case and Donna Mitterholzer, continued with baking love from their kitchens to keep the air talent in a hyper and cheerful mood. DJ Kai and announcer Ali's brownies were deeply missed again this year, as was producer Jenny's seasonal smoothies, but this year was filled with new Christmas musical treats from Louise Goffin, Lisa Mychols, Dana Countryman, Lisa Jenio, Pat Benatar & Neil Geraldo, Butch Young, Nelson with Carnie & Wendy Wilson, Chris Rudd, Mimi Betinis and The Nines. As always, we featured Wham's holiday classic "Last Christmas" and had we known that we'd lose singer-songwriter George Michael at age fifty-three just after the radio show, our hearts would have been broken while on the air. George Michael had been a big part of our collective broadcasting careers and personal soundtracks that his artistic talents are beyond words. We also lost Sharon Jones before the broadcast and she knew that she didn't have much time left on this Earth, which made her perform in front of more people than ever before and recorded more music in a short time frame as she lived life to the fullest. We included her performance with The Dap Kings of "8 Days Of Hanukkah".
Special radio appearances on this Christmas Radio Special include Rachael Yamagata, Jon Batiste, Lisa Loeb, Craig Leve (of Snap, Crackle, POP!), Nick Gilder, Alicia Witt, Gunnar Nelson, Dana Countryman, Michael Damian, Darrin "DC" Carlson, Whitney Wolanin, Mike Viola, Rob Bonfiglio, Albert Brooks, Schuyler Fisk, Tom Richards, Lisa Mychols, Toby Gershon Padgett, John Hunter Phillips, Bleu, Chloe Lear, Christian Migliorese of The Feels, Sabrina Culver, Mimi Betinis, Alexis Keegan, Gail Petersen, Clay Howard, Dennis Pepperack, Larry VanMersbergen, Chris Rudd, John Borack and Adam Waltermire.
