Rachael Yamagata and Sare Bareilles - Milwaukee and Minneapolis

Singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata is currently on tour with Sara Bareilles and checks in to keep us up to date.

    milwaukee and minneapolis...

    April 16, 2008

Wednesday morning. Picnic bench outside Best Western parking lot.

Three days in and it already feels like a month. We've already had one band battle, one great show, one heavily influenced by jack daniels (not as great) show and are on our first drive day. Loved the Pabst theater in Milwaukee (Gary – you rock) and last night's show at the Fine Line (Minneapolis) was schweet. The audiences have been receptive and stellar so far, welcoming us and we are beginning to feed off of them. We have all fallen in love with Raining Jane and Sara's band and the initial after show hangs have proved that we are one for all in this and would prove worthy in a bar fight should any of our new crew be taken on. It's always a strange thing to throw new people together in travel and as cliché as it is, it's not really that different from the first days of summercamp when you size eachother up, trade initial life facts and do shots of lovely things that explain the ibuprofen in my pocket. Ok, maybe you don't have alcohol when you are twelve, but you do have sleepovers and groggy walks to breakfast and new little crushes form and whatever daily routine you had is thrown out the window.

Last night we considered auctioning off band members to compete with the brilliant merch that lines the tables, none of which is ours. There's nothing like a good ole keepsake to take away from a night, but alas for now it is the show and well, whatever the youtube gurus post. I did have a nice moment in Milwaukee when I decided it would be fun to walk off stage still playing guitar, but didn't account for a too short cable and so got nearly there and had to lay the darn thing on the floor, tripping up my oh so cool idea. Life. Love it.

And the loneliness thang does creep in as well, but we'll hold off on that till later. For now, since it is day three, I will dig my sneakers out of my bag and join dan for a fitness center run, while I still remember that I used to run everyday and it does a body good. Signing off as Rachael yamagaGOUDA, my new apparent "cheese" nickname (we all got one), wishing you the best and muchos gracias for coming out and watching us play.

    Love love love
