Joy Valencia Interview on The Time Machine
Singer-songwriter Joy Valencia was a recent guest on The Time Machine. Joy was wonderful enough to let us play her music on the Maui airwaves the past year while she is busy completing her first album with what she refers to as the juicy flavors of late-1960s psychedelic pop and a twist of cabaret. The Time Machine's radio host Michael McCartney couldn't help but ask about what he heard as a Harry Nilsson influence. Listen to the broadcast to hear Joy reply to that and share stories about her songwriting craft.
Brand new songs heard on this Maui afternoon FM broadcast aircheck include Australian artist Emmaline, The Bangles and Fountains of Wayne. Radio hosts Summer Blue and Michael McCartney also featured songs from Peter Rodman, Wax, Linda Ronstadt, Sheila E., The Beach Boys, Mary Hopkin, The Smith Bros., Marty Rudnick & Michael Carpenter, Wings, Traveling Wilburys, The Easybeats, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, Ronnie Spector with Susanna Hoffs, Barry Ryan, The Hollies, and Harry Nilsson. Joining in the musical playlist and microphone fun were Daphne Matsumoto, Notorious K A I, Ashley Starr and Jenny Leong from The Time Machine Crew.
