Kristin Hoffmann - Countdown To 30 - Thirty Songs In Thirty Days

Singer-songwriter Kristin Hoffmann has her 30th birthday coming up on October 10th. She always like to do things to inspire herself on and around her birthday. She has decided to do something special for this birthday milestone and decided to enter into the next decade with a fun and creative musical challenge. For thirty days, starting today (September 10th), Kristin will write, record and produce a new song every day - finishing on her birhday!

Kristin is excited about this and for those of you who sign up, she will be sending a daily MP3 straight to your email box, along with lyrics and an explanation about the song and how it came about. Pretty cool huh? You can sign up for 30 songs for $30 and the money that she raises from this project will hopefully be enough to finish and package her next album on CD, "The Waking", which Kristin has been working on for a year now with friend and composer Michael Whalen.

October 9th will be her official COUNTDOWN TO 3Oth BIRTHDAY CONCERT at a venue to be announced. Tomorrow on September 11th, she will be performing at Washington Square Park in New York City at 2PM.

We've been playing Kristin on the radio for a few years now and are excited to play a new song every day on the Hawaiian airwaves. We'll also be sharing some of the songs on our radio website and here on MOG.

Let's kick it off with her Kristin's first day challenge. This song is called "Map Of The Stars" with lyrics and personal commentary from Kristin below:

    Map of the Stars II

It takes a lot of love
It takes a lot of quiet
It takes a lot of listening
It takes a lot of light
To find it, to find it
    To hold it deep inside
    To own it

    Chorus:
    Map of the Stars
    Drawing the lines to connection
    Finding the path, I remember
The plans were laid from the start

It takes a lot of patience
It takes a lot of trust
    It takes total awareness
    It takes a little luck
To find it, to find it
    But when that moment comes
    You know it

    Chorus:
    Map of the Stars
    Drawing the lines to connection
    Finding the path, I remember
The plans were laid from the start
    Map of the Stars
Tracing my way back to oneness
Seeing the life in each moment
    Grasping who we are

I takes a lot of love
It takes a lot of quiet
It takes a lot of listening
It takes a lot of light
It takes a lot of patience
It takes a lot of trust
    It takes total awareness
    It takes a little luck

"Map of the Stars" was inspired by a powerful dream that I had in the past year where I was shown 12 personality categories that people are born into, kind of like another form of astrology. I learned that I was born into the group "Map of the Stars," which was represented by a picture of star formations connected by lines, similar to when we see constellations drawn out. Even though all 12 groups were revealed to me in the dream, unfortunately, only 3 of them made it back to this side: Map of the Stars, Masks, and Skulls.

After having this dream, I began searching for the meaning in the message I had received...what is the role of Map of the Stars? How do I better align with this energy? Somehow, I feel like it has to do with "connecting people through light." We are all stars and somehow, my role is to help us all see this in each other, possibly through music. Anyway, I continue the search, and this songs is part of my journey to awareness!

    Enjoy! Much love,
    Kristin
