Alicia Witt Launches Christmas Radio Programming in Hawaii with New Single, Adam Waltermire Unveils A Pop Garden Christmas AND Radio Music Challenge Accepted on The Time Machine

Singer-songwriter Alicia Witt returned to The Time Machine to kick off the world broadcast debut of her latest holiday song, "I'm Not Ready For Christmas". The previous two Christmas seasons on the Maui FM airwaves featured her first Christmas single covering the classic "Santa Baby" with an arrangement that was welcomed by island listeners. The subject matter of her new song "I'm Not Ready For Christmas" was the perfect song to launch our Christmas programming on the radio dial. Considering that we do our best as radio programmers to hold back until December to spin Christmas songs, we are well aware that other radio stations around the country start as early as October (a few even begin in Septemeber), the lyrical content of Alicia Witt's song was the perfect tune to actually break our radio format rule for decades and begin playing Christmas songs before Thanksgiving. She brought her song to life in the studio with fellow musicians Michael Bradford (bass and guitar), Rayford Griffin (drums and percussion) and Ben Folds (glockenspiel, bells and additional vocals). Michael Bradford also produced the song with Joe Costa as mixer and additional production by Ben Folds. Both the original naughty version and the "clean" version can be purchased at her website and on Bandcamp.com. The Time Machine Crew were honored to have Alicia kick off our Christmas programming. Previous artists in the past that have started off our holiday programming include Rachael Yamagata, Kelly Jones, Mandy Moore, Mike Viola, Amy Grant, Bleu, Rob Bonfiglio, Maple Mars and Wilson Phillips.

Alicia refers to her single as her new un-Christmas song, which is ironic, considering that her last three film projects as an actress were all Christmas flicks. Although we featured her songs in heavy rotation this past year including "Do It" and her duet with Ben Folds titled "You Can Go Home", Alicia was spending most of this past year pretending that it was Christmas. Her first film for the holidays debuted in November on The Hallmark Channel. The television movie "A Very Merry Mix-Up" became the third highest rated film in the network's history and repeated viewings continue until the end of the year. Alicia Witt will be in theaters nationwide on December 13th in "Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas" and her third Christmas film "A Snow Globe Christmas" debuts the following day, December 14th on the Lifetime Network, as she stars opposite Donald Faison and Christina Milian. A perfect movie for a Saturday night. It will air a few more times throughout the month of December. Meanwhile, Alicia is busy working in the story arc of the upcoming fifth season of "Justified" on the FX Network. Season premiere is January 7th, 2014.

Adding to the Christmas spirit on the FM broadcast was return guest Adam Waltemire with his Florida radio show's latest album release, "A Pop Garden Christmas". Adam shared his thoughts behind the Christmas project and featured songs from a wide variety of talented artists including Twenty Cent Crush, Timmy Sean, Lannie Flowers, Ruby Free and Lisa Mychols. "A Pop Garden Christmas" can also be found on Bandcamp.com.

Back in September, Monster Of Lite Rock's founder Andrew Curry, was a guest on the program discussing the vinyl release of "Drink A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute To Lite Rock". During the on on-air conversation between Andrew and radio host Michael McCartney, Michael pointed out that on both the vinyl and the double album CD, that not a single musical act chose to record the 1980 classic Dan Fogelberg song "Same Old Lang Syne" which inspired the tribute album's title. The single became a top ten hit for the late Dan Fogelberg and the following year was included on his album "The Innocent Age". Although the song is timeless and can be listened to anytime of the year, over the last three decades, radio has decided to play it during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. This song was aching to be a part of the successful album tribute to Lite Rock but unfortunately nobody opted to record their arrangement. Michael decided during the interview to make an announcement that if any musician wanted to tackle the song, that it would be featured on the air this Christmas season. Andrew also added that it would be featured on the Monsters Of Lite Rock Facebook page. The Time Machine Crew are glad to announce that we have received a submission from Cara Maria O'Shea & Royce Peterson. The two musicians decided to arrange the song as a duet. As promised, it was featured on the Monsters Of Lite Rock Facebook page and made it's broadcast debut. Both Cara Maria and Royce were guests on the program sharing how they came up with their arrangement.

The Time Machine Crew is still accepting submissions from musical artists covering Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne". Submit your recording and arrangement to TheTimeMachine@yahoo.com. Perhaps there could be a future version coming from Alicia Witt and Ben Folds. That would be a cool musical gift.

Other artists heard on this Maui afternoon FM aircheck include Mike Viola & Kelly Jones performing "Time For Everything To Change" off of Mike's latest album "Ghoul", Ryan Robinson with his song "She's Movin' In" and Willie Wisely with Kelly Jones doing their wild arrangement of the Atlanta Rhythm Section's classic "So Into You".
