Ana Cristina Interview on The Time Machine
Singer-songwriter and actress Ana Cristina was our musical guest on The Time Machine this past week. She has a new EP coming out later this fall titled "The Franklin Avenue Chronicles". Bouncing back and forth between her music, acting and modeling careers; The Time Machine Crew were excited that Ana would share her latest music with the Maui radio audience. Ana discussed the influence behind her latest batch of songs, working with producer Chris Price and at the age of nineteen how she became the first Hispanic woman in history to perform the "Star Spangled Banner" at a Presidential Inauguration in 2005.
Ana is a Cuban-American singer known for her bluesy contralto vocals and rare "Whistle Register". Ana writes songs in the Pop/Soul genre with the help of the guitar and piano. She has worked with several Grammy award winning music producers throughout her career and was signed by Sony Music at the age of 15 where she first began recording music in the Spanish language. Ana started her career by performing as a child on the long running Univision variety show “Sabado Gigante” from the ages of six to thirteen. In addition to performing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the 2005 Presidential Inauguration, Ana most notably gave a performance in 2006 at the White House in honor of Hispanic Heritage month, serenading the President of the United States, the Crowned Prince of Spain and notable world ambassadors in the East Room with her potent voice. That same year, she recorded the theme song for the World Cup Germany 2006 for the Univision Network titled "You Can Change the World" and its bilingual counterpart "El Mundo Puedes Cambiar". Ana Cristina has also headlined the Calle Ocho Music Festival in Miami and has performed at NFL, MLB, NBA games, Madison Square Garden, The Sony Ericsson, as well as during both New York and Miami fashion week. She has interviewed and performed multiple times on Univision and Telemundo network talk shows and has been featured in such publications as Cosmopolitan in Espanol, Glamour en Espanol and the cover of the Miami Herald to name a few. She also won the title of Miss South Florida USA in 2011.
