Andrew Curry Returns To The Time Machine

Andrew Curry returned to The Time Machine last week with exciting news about an upcoming album project. In 2012, Andrew became a semi-regular guest on The Time Machine's broadcast over Maui's FM dial, revealing one song after another over several months of an album project being put together titled "Drink A Toast To Innocence: A Tribute To Lite Rock". The double album release was a success in 2013. Most reviewers loved the concept of mostly Powerpop musical acts recording their versions of those "lite rock" classic radio hits of the late seventies to early eighties. Twenty-eight songs from an incredible group of artists including Mike Viola, Bleu, Lisa Mychols, Seth Swirsky, Willie Wisely, Mike Ruekberg, Kyle Vincent, Michael Carpenter, Linus of Hollywood, Brandon Schott and Kelly Jones are just a brief list of the musical talent on that album's roster. It's now the Spring of 2014 and the songs off of that collection are still garnering massive airplay on The Time Machine after nearly a year of the album's release. This time around, Andrew has decided to bring together another group of artist to tackle the wonderful musical period in the eighties affectionately called the Second British Invasion. With the music industry's new best friend on cable television called MTV, bands from not only America but the United Kingdom enjoyed tremendous success due to this exposure primarily between 1982 to 1986. Duran Duran, The Culture Club, ABC, The Thompson Twins, The Eurythmics and Tears For Fears are just a handful of acts that were part of this trend. Even acts that were already established before this time frame like The Pretenders (fronted by American Chrissie Hynde), Squeeze and The Police were swept up in the Second British Invasion. The crop of today's artists that are to be a part of this upcoming tribute is a list to wet your musical palate but we'll hold back on naming them all for now, as we'll be doing over the next few months leading up to the release, but Andrew did announce during the interview that The Wellingtons and Ken Stringfellow have finished their recording sessions. The first artist to complete a studio session and submit his cover of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself" to make its world broadcast debut to tease us about this promising new project was Taylor Locke. Taylor has been a musical guest on The Time Machine in the past sharing his thoughts behind both Taylor Locke & The Roughs and the band Rooney that he co-founded. If you're a fan of Shakin' Stevens and the other British acts that incorporated a little bit of rockabilly into their eighties music, then you'll dig what Taylor Locke has done with the Billy Idol rocker.

Another brand spanking new episode of "Love Bites" was presented on the Hawaiian airwaves from HonestlyLisa.com's Lisa Orkin and Robbie Rist. New music also heard on this Maui afternoon FM aircheck include songs from Nelson Bragg, Mike Viola, Eric Barao and Sounds Like Digging, Others artists featured on this broadcast include Linda Ronstadt, The Smith Bros., Outerstar, Wang Chung, Oingo Boingo, ABC, Men At Work, The Jacksons, Kenny Loggins, Billy Joel, Trooper and Squeeze.
